billboard r.i.p.
this week we say goodbye to a couple other notable albums. i would consider myself a casual nas fan and found a few tracks off this double disc worth having. "illmatic" is the only album of his i've bought though. the track below has some damn good rhymes in it. the album sold 674,000 copies. a little lower than i would have expected.
nas - getting married
i guess this new greatest hits collection was released in conjunction with the queen musical "we will rock you", but it's no better or different from the older classic greatest hits collections. this one sold 238,000. you should learn the words to the song below and try and hit the notes with freddie. i dare you.
queen - killer queen
this is a band called mae that i had never heard of before they entered the chart. so i downloaded a song and i liked it a lot. which got me worried. why hadn't i heard about this band at all. are they like an evanescence/a perfect circle type band? it's too late, i already like them. well, i still don't really know, but they are from norfolk, which is essentially where i lived for 6 years. the song i downloaded and like a lot is called "the sun and the moon" and it reminds me of the mew song "comforting sounds". i tried to find it to post but no luck so the track below i actually haven't heard yet. it very well could be proof of an evanescence comparison that i'm too scared to find out. the album sold 35,000 copies.
mae - suspension
this is a cool collection of jazz standards remixed by modern electronic or alternative artists. they don't always work, but some of them are really cool. i looked for one to post, but i got tired and just wanted to get in the shower. so you'll have to do your own dirty work. the postal service/nina simone track is good, as is the max sledgley/sarah vaughan. the shit sold 15,000 copies.
