10. 'Angeles' - Elliott Smith from Either/OR

My favorite Elliott Smith song it clocks at an even 17 plays. If their was a way to quantify how many times I've listened to this song since I heard it originally in 1997 , it might well be number 1. Sadly no method to this currently exists.

9. 'Sovay' - Andrew Bird from The Mysterious Production of Eggs

The finest track on the finest Andrew Bird album yet.
17 Plays.

8. 'Romulus' - Sufjan Stevens from Greetings! From Michigan The Great Lakes State

Certainly I'd heard this one before, but I didn't really hear it until i saw Sufjan Stevens perform it live this past summer in Portland as a solo acoustic encore. It was fantastic, and so I revisted it on the album, and sure enough that was fantastic too. 18 Plays.

7. 'Dark End of the Street' - The Flying Burrito Brothers from The Gilded Palace of Sin

This is a song that just begs to mixed tape, I've been envisioning it ending a glorious mix for some months (as I've racked up my 19 listens). TIme will only tell who the lucky recipient is.

6. 'Casimir Pulaski Day' - Sufjan Stevens from Illinois

My favorite song from the new Sufjan Stevens I've listened to it 20 times, one might wonder why it's been played less than several Sufjan Stevens tracks from the same album. I don't have those answers, so i wish you'd stop asking the question.

5. 'One Last Woo Hoo for the Pullman' - Sufjan Stevens from Illinois

This hardly even qualifies as a track, but out of fairness I thought I should include it. It's only 6 seconds long, and really its sort of a continuation of the previous track, Decatur (which can be found further down the list), and so every time i listen to Decatur I listen to it, by default. Twenty times apparently.

4. 'Farmer Chords' - Ben Gibbard from Home, Vol. 5

I've kind of come to hate Death Cab for Cutie and their most recent over produced effort Transatlanticism (I'm sure The OC hasn't helped), but I think Ben Gibbard is at his best when he keeps it simple, and thats just what he does here. I listend to this song on repeat for an hour, after first hearing it, which is largely why its earned such a lofty atop my list with 20 plays.

3. 'Decatur, Or A Round of Applause For Your Step Mother!' - Sufjan Stevens from Illinois

My dads family is From Decatur, and it's a terrific song. There are very few references to anything actually in Decatur (as I hoped there might be), it's still a great song, and already number 3 with 25 plays despite only being in my itunes for a week or so.

2. Some Black Snake Crawl - Vale and Year from The Vale and Year Create a Perfect History

II've been listening to this songs a whole lot the past few months. Firstly it's a great song, bu secondly be cause I'll be doing a video for it sometime in the next few months. Vale and Year is from Pittsburgh, they're compromised of two former members of another Pittsburgh band, Boxstep. They released this album independently about a year or so ago, but it's getting a national release sometime soon, courtesy of Fat Possum records. It clocks in at 28 plays.

1. 'Artists Are Boring' - Kingdom Flying Club from Non Fiction

Number one with 40 plays. Most of these plays occured when I left the song on repeat , and then walked away for an hour or two forgetting about it. However it was also number one w/ well over a hundred plays sometime last year (before I deleted all of my Itunes and started over), so its an earned victory. These guys are currently on a small Missouri based label, but based on their recent appearance on The OC I'd say that won't be the case for long.

First of all, Brendan, I hate you. And you listen to pussy music.

My top ten is completely uninteresting, itunes rebooted recently and the play counts started over.

10. Opposite Day, Andrew Bird
9. Masterfade, Andrew Bird
8. Banking on a Myth, Andrew Bird
7. I Missed the Point, Neko Case
6. Look for Me (I'll Be Around), Neko Case
5. TIghtly, Neko Case
4. Measuring Cups, Andrew Bird
3. Fake Palindromes, Andrew Bird
2. A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left, Andrew Bird

Miraculously, they've all been played 11 times.

The only significant track here is my number one, Lady Pilot by Neko Case, at a starter boost count of 18 plays. This song speaks volumes with its evocative bittersweet distanced mysteriousness. Has become one of my defining tracks of the year. A few other songs that would have been in my list if it weren't refreshed:

Syd Barrett - Octopus Ride
Aphex Twin - Seefeel, Time to Find Me
Dan Hicks - Moody Richard
Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans
Stone Roses - Don't Stop

There Brendan. Happy? While I'm here, I might as well announce the possibility of a round the world trip near the end of the year, and I challenge/invite you all to join me. Key stopovers in Europe and Asia, and ending in Australia. Keeping my eye out for good deals. Life is short, see the world.

Ciao for now, Zoe.

ps - hi Chad, nice blogs

I know this is late but here are what top my Most Played list on iTunes. Better nate than lever I always say:

10. Every Day - Aphex Twin. Chilled groove with children vocals subtley played throughout. Perfect song to get stoned to.

9. D Song - Bonobo. My cousin introduced me to Bonobo, a very funky artist. Chad you would like them.

8. Crazy Game of Poker - The anthem to my final year of structured education, turned onto me by my brother who goes to a school where better music gets to the masses.

7. Crave - Aphex Twin. Wow, apparently I enjoy Aphex Twin, perhaps its because I enjoy putting them on as I fall to sleep. Crave is not the title of this track, but rather a loving ode to Jami Craver.

6. Aqueous Transmission - Incubus. Again, not really my song, but one that Trey likes a lot and plays it a lot. It's another chill, stoner song. Go figure.

5. 99 Red Balloons - Goldfinger. I'm guessing Trey looked this up in the ol' library, found it, made a playlist of one and listen to it all day on a day off from work. Good cover, but hardly worthy of this list.

Oddly here's where it gets worse. Of the next 4 selections, 3 are mash-ups, which means this list dates back to about two months ago when Trey and I got on a kick and didn't listen to anything but mash-ups.

4. Black Eyed Peas Vs The Cure Mash-up/3. Joy Division Vs Missy Elliott. Both mediocre two months later.

2. 3 AM - OAR. Good song all around.

1. EMINEM VS U2 Mash Up - As good as they get.

Pretty shitty yes, in a month it'll be better.
